Alex Marenga: computer sequencing, synths, darbuka, tabla, keyboards, electric bass, electric, acoustic and slide guitars.
Dr.Lops: keyboards and synthesizers
Marco Paghewatt: space whispers

TRACKLISTING

1. type='text'>www.alfredjohnmusic.com memories of an echo

Alfred John is about to release his debut album, much to the excitement of his already underground base of fans. With the album expected to be a success, the exciting, new-fangled sound that he has made his own is certain to gain interest from across the pond.

The development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up as a teen in the seventies and early eighties with his love for synth pop, he has created his own atmospheric, hypnotic guitar-based instrumental and synthesizer sound with a smooth sophisticated almost haunting voice.

Alfred has also been approached to write new material for several Motion picture studios, including the use of his track “ My Once Upon a Time” for an IFC film coming out this fall. (The trailer for this film is not available as of yet.) The link will be posted as soon as possible.

To describe Alfred John – uplifting, summery, dreamlike, moving quietly, coaxing beauty out of layers of echoes and always-inventive soundscaping. Many thanks go out to all who have helped to make this happen. A special thanks to Robin Hanley from Emerald City Recording Inc. www.emeraldcityrecording.com

The release of “Memories of an Echo” is a stunning collection of recordings that will truly be a complete listening experience.

"Indian Dusk" by Sanjay Wandrekar (World Artist from India)

No stranger to the music scene, the talented keyboardist/composer Sanjay Wandrekar and his CD "Indian Dusk" will enlighten your musical senses through his artistic arrangements of World/Indian classical music. This album features sound textures that captures the essence of peace and tranquility. Wandrekar reveals his excellent taste in musical tonality on the song, "In Earnest," as the instruments projects crisp clarity with intense precision. A touch of Jazz is heard on "A Bridge So Near" as the female vocal rises above the soft drum splashes and strong bass line with a nice dynamic balance. The sultry sax on the song, "Eloquent Conversation," cascades around the strong and polished vocal while the sparkling piano plays a delicate riff. Relax and enjoy the thought provoking compositions of "Indian Dusk" as you will find this album filled with memorable peaceful music.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out SANJAY WANDREKAR's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"The Demolished Man" by Amptek and the Exit Strategy (Electronic Artist from Italy)

"The Demolished Man" is the latest release from the talented group Amptek and the Exit Strategy. In this album electronic artist Amptek collaborates with the instrumental ensemble known as the Exit Strategy to create an album filled with a variety of electronic songs that employs a mixture of genres and moods. The track, "Cause and Effect," is a slow moving, thought provoking song in which a crisp and clean piano interacts with the smooth and flowing drums providing a melody that is delicate and moody. "Technology of Power" is a song that is fresh and invigorating as there are edgy guitar hooks and riffs, funky bass lines, and a hue of energy bringing this song together. "Overbearing Future" is a distinctive number that uses a more danceable and distinguished beat, yet is quasi trance-like with moving sounds throughout the song. This album is for people who appreciate introspective electronic music which displays a dynamic balance of multi layered sounds and textures. If this brand of experimental electronic mood music sounds likes something you could appreciate, then you need to add "The Demolished Man" by Amptek and the Exit Strategy to your music collection.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Amptek and The Exit Strategy 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

AMPTEK AND THE EXIT STRATEGY: THE DEMOLISHED MAN on sale on cdbaby

Alex Marenga aka Amptek is a producer, dj and guitar player on duty in italian jazz-rock scene since the latest 80s
He’s performed with bands such as ‘ Simmetrie’ and ‘Frammenti di caos’ (an electro-acoustic experimental band). In 1997 he joined ‘Nature’ record label and recorded the LP ‘Narcos’.
Founded a record label himself called ‘Eclectic Records’ and the electro-funk band ‘Entropia’, which gave birth to many works, challenging itself with electro, break beat, IDM and ambient music .
Cd ‘Demolished man’ has been a work in progress with ‘EXIT STRATEGY’, a team of musicians formed by:
STEFANO BALDASSERONI (The Grandmothers, Patty Pravo, Moony and many others) on drums
GIANCARLO ROMANI (etruria criminale banda) on trumpet and flugelhorn
BIAGIO ORLANDI (Entropia,Quintetto Introverso, RNJ Project) on sax
DR. LOPS (Entropia) on keyboards.
The Demolished man took inspiration by an Alfred Bester’ sci-fi novel.
It tells, almost 30 years before the actual cyberpunk movement, about a society controlled by a totalitarian regime. Technology is the tool that controls and eventually modifies social behaviours while environment is going toward irreversibile process of mutations. This is an usual matter in AMPTEK works.
In The Demolished Man, Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Virtuvian Man’ is being transformed and tecnologically deformed, changing is ‘human’ nature and turned to ‘a man inside a point of view’.
The sound is the result of AMPTEK’s past electronic experiences.
First track ‘technology of power’ is a nervous song where a stretched guitar solo plays over an electro-funk rhythm. Minimal dub atmosphere on ‘cognitive dissonance’, instead. Psychedelic vibes on ‘Eternity blues’ and ‘La ligne de demarcation’. A Canterbury-like psychedelic rock is the marker of ‘temple of down’. Experimental textures on space-jazzy themes are heard on ‘the penultimate truth’, ‘equilibrium’ and ‘ body language’.

eclecticroma.blogspot.com
www.myspace.com/amptekk
http://www.youtube.com/amptek
CDBABY SALE PAGE

"You're All Wrong-EP" by HolliePollock (Classic Rock Artist from Salem, Oregon(OR))

"You're All Wrong-EP" by HolliePollock has a cool alternative sound to it while also having the Classic Rock feel of Zepplin to it as well. The vocals are just as gritty as the instrumentation and lyrics which gives this album an abundance of intensity. The title track, "You're All Wrong" with its dynamic drums and talented bass emulates both lyrically and musically an expression of loneliness that's identifiable with everyone. "13th Sun" is another talent-dense track on the EP with strong and solid guitar work that embellishes the lyrical vocal. The music is on the forefront while the vocals linger behind in an almost spooky, but interesting way. This CD contains 5 tracks of intense Classic Rock music spanning this bands performance of outstanding musical capability. Incorporating sitar, santoor (a 100-stringed instrument played with wooden mallets), Western flute and tabla, the 4-piece band stretches the boundaries of their Hindustani-inspired music in a musical exploration that's both rich in tradition as well as brilliantly modern. On CD-opener, "Mind the Gap," Indus' playfulness is in full evidence; a rhythmically complex piece that challenges each musician to stay true to the beat, it is an 11-minute workout of pure inspiration. "A Night at the Court" utilizes improvisational scat-like singing (called "bols," the language of tabla) over a regal melody reminiscent of classical Persian extemporization. In fact, the album's opus, "Esfahan," draws the neighboring cultures of India, Pakistan and Iran into sharp relief over the course of a wildly provocative 19-minute jam that gives each player more than ample space to improvise and experiment with melody, rhythm, tone and harmony. Equally challenging and rewarding, the evocative "Firefly" CD by Indus is perfect for fans of Indian music, or for listeners of similarly modern World Music visionaries (e.g., John McLaughlin's Shakti or Anouar Brahem).

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Indus 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"When She's Around" by The Dave Rawlinson Band (Country Artist from Seattle, Washington(WA))

The Dave Rawlinson Band put together a relaxed, classic Country album with "When She's Around." Rawlinson's vocals are spot on and definitely hit that country twang without sounding trite. J-Mill and Streetz Certified Records spins an amazing, well produced album as this disc delivers clean and crisp clarity as the sound tracks never overpower the free flowing vocals providing an extremely well balanced production. Catch the innovating energy that rises up on the song "City Boy" as J-Mill cleverly utilizes a looped background hook from Journey's hit song, "Don't Stop Believin'" which swirls around the sly lyrics that grooves to the beat. The vocal wordplay is tight and this catchy song is definitely tailored for the club scene. Another hit song, "SCR Exclusive" kicks in with strong and powerful synth strings/horns and thumping drum beats as J-Mill proves his ability as a brilliant easy flowing rhymer. If you're a fan of Hip-Hop/Rap, then don't miss a chance to hear the outstanding music of "SCR Exclusive" as these songs offers vocal prowess wrapping around fresh and original, artistic arrangements.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out J-Mill 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

new album, In My Soul

I had the pleasure of getting to know Antonia in the autumn of 2008. Our paths’ crossing was perfect timing and it was clear from the outset we were destined to meet and work together. I had been creating a photographic slideshow of images from the Lofoten Islands in Norway and she was in the throws of recording her first album “A Secret Vision.” I was so blown away by the serenity of her soft sound piano music and became immediately aware that my images had been waiting for her wonderful music in order to finish my project. We forged a bond between us and we’ve been creating together ever since. I am privileged to work with such a talented artist who is an incredibly beautiful human being with a vibrant energy and a thirst for life.
In her second album, “In My Soul” she shares with us her most recent compositions. Her music is growing as she is blossoming into the fine composer and pianist she was born to be. When I listen to her pieces on this album I am enchanted by the magic in her melodies and carried away to a world that only I know deep inside myself and I am inspired to remember stories I had once forgotten and dream fantasies that wait in my tomorrows.
Whether you are full of joy or somehow touched by sadness, when you listen to this fine collection of unique compositions they will surely touch you deep in your heart. Feel the passion in her playing, surrender to the magic that you hear and feel at one with life. Antonia’s music echoes all our stories and I know she has definitely graced my soul.
Alison Wilson

"In My Soul" by Antonia (Classical Artist from Austria)

"In My Soul" is the latest release from the gifted pianist, Antonia. This album is a beautifully sounding collection of Antonia's personal classical compositions. It features just her on the piano, and truly is a recording of the highest quality. In "Once in a Wintertime" she plays hypnotically as her left hand plays the lower register with somber tonality while the right hand caresses the keys with a melody that is smooth and emotive creating a melodic and interesting composition. On the song, "After All Spring" she gives us a pleasantly prancing and hopeful piano piece. Another song, "Joy" Antonia employs the entire piano well, and usually at once, in a complex and moving song. All 11 instrumental tracks of "Bondi Blue" are titled to reflect the deep sea experience (the music was composed specifically for the Underwater Bondi Experience in Australia), and Simmons is more than up to the task of fitting music to the images his song titles evoke. CD-opener, "Into the Surf," with its lush, melodic sweep, suggests the ambience of a windswept ocean at dawn; "Deep Rocky Reef," more jagged & imposing, hints at the dangers that lurk in unfathomable depths; "Blueness" explores limitless shallows & its intrinsic natural beauty; and "Underwater," with its orchestral strains of epic proportion, calls forth the sea's mystery and its inscrutable wonder. For fans of instrumental, chill out and New Age music, John Simmons' CD, "Bondi Blue (Music from the Underwater Bondi Experience)" is as timeless as the sea it celebrates.

-Rice B. & the RadioIndy Reviewer Team
Check out John Simmons's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Lost in Time" by John Walter (Jazz/Piano Artist from England)

Jazz pianist John Walter's debut CD, "Lost in Time," was a long time in the making, but more than worth the wait. An accomplished player of skill & sensitivity, the London-schooled, Devon-based Walter has been performing & teaching in England since the 80s, building up a resume that has included stints with acclaimed UK soloists like Andy Sheppard & Paul Dunmall. Displaying an affinity for the kind of lyricism & lush chords of a Keith Jarrett or Bill Evans, "Lost in Time" is a 12-song collection of original, piano-only jazz compositions filled with quiet intensity. "There Will Be Peace" & "Song to An Empty Room," with their solemn & moving melodies, are highlights of Walter's expansiveness, each clocking in at over 6 minutes, as the composer explores every nuance of his themes. The more up-tempo "Wosa" hints at pop sensibilities before drawing back upon its jazz roots, while title-track, "Lost in Time," works the upper registers in an other-worldly performance of real beauty. As overdue introductions go, John Walter's "Lost in Time" CD is a much-appreciated look at an artist stepping out of the shadows as an accompanist to spotlight his own considerable talents as a composer & jazz pianist.

-Rice B. & The RadioIndy Reviewer Team
Check out John Walter's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"True Reflection of Love" by E.D. Like the late Wesley Willis, Lieberman – a one man sonic wrecking crew, shuns form and convention over the course of 18 tracks that, instead, rely on shock and awe bursts of scorching bass licks and howls of reverent fury to trace a Judaic arc from pre-Biblical times to the 21st century. With a voice that is both tormented and impenetrable, Lieberman sings of his Jewish heritage and faith with an atonal swagger that matches his frenzied grooves beat for beat. And while the whole may add up to a strained musicality (which, as fans of Sonic Youth might attest, can be an art form in itself), there is no denying that the multi-instrumentalist's dissonance (check out the frequent and jarring Jethro Tull-like flute interpolations) is neither accidental nor unschooled. Certainly not for everyone, Steve Lieberman the Gangsta Rabbi's "Diaspora" CD is, nevertheless, genuine and purposed; to that extent, "Diaspora" is no less than a work of self-actualization.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Steve Lieberman The Gangsta Rabbi's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Trying To Find My Way" by Fred Nash (Soul/Country Artist from California (CA))

Not that it matters, but the fact that Fred Nash's high tenor voice, which bears a resemblance to "I Can See Clearly Now" artist Johnny Nash, can't help but make a listener wonder if Fred is an offspring of the highly acclaimed former hit maker and impresario. That his CD-single, "Trying To Find My Way" has a similar soulful pop feel (albeit, without the reggae flavor), buoyed by an engaging, instantly captivating melody, only adds to the mystery. Regardless, "Trying To Find My Way," with its tasty, Steve Cropper-like guitar accompaniment accenting a spare, church-like arrangement, is a veritable throwback to an era when artists such as Nash, James, and Bobby were fashioning a crossover sound out of melding pop and soul sensibilities. Spiritual and meaningful, "Trying to Find My Way" is a fine debut CD-single from an artist who is likely to command attention not for his name, but for his escalating talent.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Fred Nash's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Mama Roots" by Jerry Harris (Reggae Artist from New York (NY))

With his deep, gruff, and oh-so-soulful voice, Jerry Harris's "Mama Roots" CD is a funky reggae album with roots as deep as the singer's own legacy. The prolific composer, a fixture in the NY reggae scene since the '70s, has once again delivered an album of potent rhythm and soul, a propulsive mix of Roots Reggae and Rocksteady that reflects the legion of key Jamaican talents he has worked with in 4 decades as a leading and important Reggae artist. Highlights include "Just a Little Love We Need" and the topical "Global Warming," both owing a debt to Bob Marley-influenced grooves, but on "Mama" he shines with a Jimmy Cliff-like pop sensibility that transcends mere reggae-style labels. On "Mama Roots" Harris is once again backed by a stellar rhythm section, typically concise guitar fills, affecting horn parts, and backing vocals from a female chorus that is integral and subtle. Lyrically, there is a '70's-centric affirmative and positive social relevance running through all his songs as he alternately exhorts, cajoles, and pleads for the kind of world that seemed nearer to realization in those more innocent times. Nevertheless, there is nothing out of date about either Jerry Harris' message or the timeless brand of reggae he so effortlessly puts forth. Jerry Harris' "Mama Roots" CD continues an ageless tradition of intoxicating Reggae/Rocksteady music.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Jerry Harris's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Left for Dead" by Refracture (Electronic Artist from England)

House music is a mystifyingly multitude of Electronica / Dance music with numerous degrees of specialization and nuances. Beats Per Minute (BPM), textural definition and use / non-use of vocals are but a few of the defining characteristics that divide such subgenres of House as Dirty House, French House, and Electro House. Refracture's 3-song CD EP, "Left for Dead," blends elements of different subgenres - most notably Electro House - meaning, the music has the requisite BPM's, is anchored by propulsive bass lines, and features the sonic balance / blend associated with the House styles. All 3 tracks are catchy, infectious, and danceable as all get-out (i.e., very danceable indeed!). The title track, "Left for Dead" kicks things off with a slow-build synth swirl that hesitates before exploding into an irresistible groove punctuated by sonic squeaks and squalls that drop out of nowhere, keeping the mix continuously fresh. "Space Riot" and "Energy Flow" are both more immediate and insistent, but no less engaging, and each makes a case for being the best of the 3 mixes on the CD. If you're a House music connoisseur you will make up your own mind about the House attributes and qualifications of Refracture's "Left for Dead" EP, but if you're an Electronica music fan I think you'll find this CD delivers where it counts: on the dance floor.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Refracture's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Sonata Love Crime of Opera" by Sonata (Classical Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

Mix elements of opera with Broadway tunes and R&B and you will get the debut disc, "Sonata Love Crime of Opera" by the talented young classical singer, Sonata. As an opera vocalist, she displays spectacular control over her voice with richness and power. "Habanera" and "O mio babbino caro" are performed in their original language, allowing listeners to appreciate the details and subtleties of Sonata's sophisticated musical maturity. Sonata shows her vocal versatility when she switches genres to R&B style on songs such as "Love Crime" or "Notice Me." Even though this is quite a change from opera, her voice still carries a smooth and silky sound. Sonata has quite a selection of material on this innovative album and listeners will find her voice to be expressive and articulate, no matter what she sings. New fans as well as old will be smitten by the exquisite and refined performances of Sonata on her album "Sonata Love Crime of Opera."

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com reviewer team
Check out Sonata's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Ultimate I & B" by Zhonray (Easy Listening Artist from The United Kingdom)

The 70's ushered in a genre – soft rock, to take the place that easy listening once described: relaxed, polished and melodious music for adults who preferred their background music comfortably familiar. The soft rock moniker eventually gave way to adult contemporary but the aesthetic remained the same. "Ultimate I & B," a veritable "best of" CD (compiled from 3 previous albums) by Zhonray is a fine example of this genre, reminding listeners of adult contemporary finest practitioners (Air Supply, Seals & Crofts, America, etc) without losing its own identity. Lush synthesizer flourishes on "In the Shadow of Fallen Love," while Zonhray delivers spare and tasteful guitar fills such as the Spanish guitar runs on "Golden Sands." Take note of the subtle conga interpolations on "Blossom Hill," or relax to the sounds of nature on "Summer Rain," or even a hint of Chris Isaaks-like tremolo guitar "Shine Your Smile on Me." Zonhray swathes its sedate tunes of the trials and triumphs of love and romance on their "Ultimate I & B" CD in arrangements that go down like the proverbial taste of honey.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Zhonray's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"You'll Like It" by Cardona (Pop Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

Cardona's CD, "You'll Like It" employs synthesizer, echo, some propulsive drumming and, on the opening title track, a jazzy dollop of electric piano, to push the dance-centric and uptown-leaning musical agenda of Brooklyn performer, Joe Cardona. This three song disc verily smacks of unbuttoned satin shirts, garish medallions, and dance floors ablaze under flashing club lights as Cardona croons in an almost drone-like and atonal - but loosely melodic, voice about the everyday "give and take" that is modern urban life. Eschewing deeply meaningful or profound lyrics, "You'll Like It" boasts the kinds of street-tough brashness of a testosterone-fueled Brooklyn club-crawler. For instance, on the title track, Cardona warbles, "the more you lick, the more you'll taste…and the more you'll like it," while on the unsentimental "Shut Up Baby," he refuses to pull any punches, singing "shut up, shut up, baby." Made for the dance floor by an artist with the milieu that fires his muse, the CD "You'll Like It" is a well played, well produced, multi-sonic exploration of the urban experience that is sure to inspire more than just booty-shaking.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Cardona's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

New Release from Award-winning Saxophonist & Singer

The long awaited new album 'Boston Manor' is now available on iTunes and through the website www.jonnyboston.com
"One of Britain's greatest talents" - Just Jazz

"Boston Manor" by Jonny Boston (Jazz/Pop Artist from the Netherlands)

Musician extraordinaire, Jonny Boston, shines on his newest disc, "Boston Manor." Don't let the common Boston theme throw you, Jonny hails from London not Massachusetts and his writing style very much reflects his native area. "Boston Manor" sounds like a record that any top notch jazz singer would have put out, but with an English accent to boot. Hints of that genre can be found on songs like "Star" and "Hold Your Head Up High." There are also some hints of The Beatles on "Ocean Breeze," with its playful melody and great organ work. Not to be out done by his fantastic band, Boston Tea Party, Jonny is also a magnificent saxophonist and it shows. Sinclair projects his easy flowing rhymes with style and refreshing wordplay. Let the addictive beats move you as the sensation of the bass and drums play with driving punch. The production quality is great on the mix, as listeners will be able to hear the multi-layered instruments on this album very clearly. The synth orchestra intro in "Favorite Food- Monstar" adds a splash of tonal quality. Feel the colorful piano progressions smoothly cascading as the sound of the ocean waves gently roll, while also taking you away to a warm tropical place on the title track "Breath of Fresh Air (I Guarantee)." Although his background is strongly rooted in jazz music, Hansen throws out more of an adult pop punch on his most recent effort. On the title track "All That I Could Give" screams of classic James Taylor vocal approach and is smooth and silky in style. If you are looking for some soothing jazz then "Love In Three Days" is a good track to check out. It features some very well polished jazz flute riffs and invites you into the artist true musical taste. This CD could easily be spun on any light rock radio station today and is a great listen. The original mix is universal and could work on the runway or in the club. "Feel So Good [Shanghai-Surprise] Club Mix" features a bubbly bass line and is rave and club worthy. "Feel So Good [Jack D Elliot] Club Mix" kicks up the tempo a bit and makes for an intense grooving experience. All of the tracks are fantastically produced and mixed. It is definitely ready to be played in public and on the air. There is a definite distinction, uniqueness, and identity present in each mix, so be sure to take a listen to each one. The vocals are sung with pure and simple qualities with velvety harmonies bringing together the collection of songs on the album. "Alleyway" is bluesy, with a slow, easy moving drum beat. As a variation in instruments, take note how the electric piano changes to acoustic piano throughout this song. As a change of tempo "Forsaken Few" has a nice country swing while the lyrics tells an interesting story. Split lead vocals on the verses showcase how these impressive lyrics are interpreted. A round effect is heard when a vocal drum beat starts. A chanting, low, walking bass line begins the cut "The Elephant." It is a well produced track as each part can be heard separately while fusing together with syncopated harmonies and rhythms. If you like a little folk music entwined with a little country beat you will not be disappointed when you hear the album "The Tiger and Me."
-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out The Tiger and Me 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Coolgilly and the Freakshow" by Centascope (Rock Artist from England)

"Coolgilly and the Freakshow" is a revolutionary CD by Centascope that is comprised of psychedelic, punk and British pop styles. By taking three generations of music and compiling them into one exceptional album each song produces a different quality. The titled track "Coolgilly and the Freakshow" features a dynamic, loud, driving punk beat with aggressive lead guitar. The vocals are nicely sung with ease and style with hints of complimentary harmony. The ability of the vocals to change from one chapter of music to another is a high point throughout the album creates a clear and innovative approach to this collection of genres. A good example of this versatility is on "Carter Takes a Train" as this is more of the mind transformation persuasion of the 1970's psychedelic time. "The Girl on the Left" and "Empty Head" are rhythmic and energetic with cool, bluesy Hammond organ riffs. This is truly a wonderful album as you can hear tempo's slow and easy or fast and powerful with styles of music from three time periods. If you like music by The Who with a taste of punk, you'll won't be disappointed with "Coolgilly and the Freakshow."
-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Centascope 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“This Train Still Runs" by Marcus Dagan (Easy Listening/Pop Artist from Baltimore, Maryland (MD))

"This Train Still Runs" is an easy listening/contemporary album filled with some popular standards by Marcus Dagan. Johnstone has strong, yet touching, vocals while she sings with a variety of vocal ranges. The harmonies are sung with the same passion-filled emotions as the lead vocals. The title track, "Mr. Sun," has a cheerful Latin rhythm that makes you feel happy, with lyrics that compliment the rest of the instruments. "Don't Tell Me That It's Over" captures the feel of a nice, flowing jazz/blues song, with a soulful saxophone solo to top it off. "So Bad" is a relaxing, Jack Johnson-like track that exhibits Johnstone's vocal range. The creativity in the infusing brass instruments within songs adds texture to the band's sound, and the piano enriches the sense of a jazzy/blues style. The lead vocals are shared by founding members Renee Sears and Gerry Power who co-write the band's original material. Their highly-polished sound is characterized by honest lyrics, heartfelt vocals, and spirited instrumental performances. The group's mastery of the traditional country style is evident with the energetic "Girls Night Out" and the good-humored "Whisky Dinker's Lament," with Sears providing the vocals on the former and Power on the latter. "She Don't Care" is another strong traditional number, featuring a notable lead guitar performance from Power. "Let's Take A Walk" is a more contemporary track featuring a funky groove, baritone sax and blistering lead guitar by Power. "Little Pieces Of My Heart" shows that the group can also shine while performing lovely ballads, and Sears gives a expressive, sincere performance. Sears also infuses her personality into the playful title track "The Single Life," demonstrating her infectious style and soulful vocal approach. This album will appeal to the young and old, freestyle and line dancers, and fans of both traditional and contemporary country music.
-Rodney and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out The Big River Bandits 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Body of Lies" by Layla Kaylif (Pop Artist from London, England)

Layla Kaylif's "Body of Lies," which is loosely based on the David Ignatius novel of the same name, is a modern blend of rock and pop featuring Middle Eastern world music influences and dark lyrics that explore spiritual, political and religious topics. Her album is conceptual and of a philosophical nature, with intelligent and provocative songwriting. Kaylif's vocals are moving, passionate and emotional throughout. "Jerusalem" is a danceable track that speaks about the current political issues there. "The Night Journey" and "The Black Madonna" are somewhat darker songs based on the nonexistence of the womanly traits of sympathy and compassion in the world. The evocative and haunting "You Live Once and Then You Die" is a stimulating exploration into the uncertainty of living now or for the future. The mysterious and truth-seeking "It Makes No Sense" explores the longing for a heavenly union or love. With "Body of Lies," Layla Kaylif has created a thought-provoking album that uses modern pop music with Middle Eastern world influences as a platform to investigate and discover new political perspectives.
-Rodney and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Layla's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Beatlesque One" by Alan Bernhoft (Classic Rock Artist from California (CA))

Alan Bernhoft has captured the style and feel of the legendary British pop band "The Beatles" with his appropriately titled album "Beatlesque One." His approach is remarkably reminiscent of the early Beatles style while at the same time fresh and original, paying homage to the group but spinning the music is his own creative and unique way. He portrays the atmosphere of the 1960s immediately and effectively on this album with "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby," a stunning opener that perfectly encapsulates the sound of the era that fused British pop with American rock-n-roll. The songs are well-written and skillfully produced, with clever arrangements and spirited musical performances. Listen to his stylish and accurate vocals on the lively and cheerful "Playdate," and his almost eerie resemblance to the lighthearted side of Paul McCartney on "Sunshine Girl" and "Someday ('08 Mix)." Another highlight is "Winter Ocean Mary Go Round ('08 Mix)," which is symbolic of the style of John Lennon. Bernhoft's introspective writing displays a truly uncanny resemblance to many aspects of The Beatles music, capturing their essence in both spirit and sound. Fans of The Monkees, The Beatles, and 60's rock will find "Beatlesque One" incredibly appealing.
-Rodney and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Alan Bernhoft 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Micro Talk" by Miguel Rodrigues (Electronica Artist from London, England)

"Micro Talk" by Miguel Rodrigues is an innovative electronica and house album that is full of funky riffs and soulfully energetic beats. Rodrigues without a doubt has a style all his own, composed of electronica, house, dance, funk, and jazz, and this album puts that style on full display. The listener will certainly experience a sort of serenity while listening to "Micro Talk," as he takes listeners on a journey filled with layer upon layer of beautiful sounds mixed with warm, but active, grooves and beats. The sequences are all very tight and the production is of very high quality. "Blue Ball" kicks things off, and to say it is funky would be a tremendous understatement. Those that enjoy discovering unique electronica artists with a multitude of influences will love "Micro Talk" and should waste no time in picking this one up.
-William & the RadioIndy Review Team
Check out Miguel Rodrigues's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Live At the House of Sin” by Phil Shoenfelt & Pavel Cingl (Rock Artist from London, England)

"Live At the House of Sin" is an incredible collaboration between English singer/songwriter Phil Shoenfelt and Czech violinist and guitarist Pavel Cingl. Recorded live at the Nova Sin club in Prague, this album features digs into the Shoenfelt songbook and features Shoenfelt on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, reminiscent of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave, and Cingl contributing incredible violin and electric guitar work to accompany the acoustic rhythms and give the tracks a full sound. The resulting songs have a great mix of gothic and folk, as Shoenfelt delivers intelligent and memorable lyrics of sorrow, love, life, and death. This is the type of performance best heard live, and "Live At the House of Sin" is recorded cleanly and the product sounds great. "Saviour's Day" begins with clean acoustic and violin work, then moves into a sorrowful violin progression that perfectly matches the sadness of Shoenfelt's lyrics of lost love. "Shivers Inside" features electric and acoustic guitar work, and is an incredible, slow and lyrical love song from Shoenfelt. "Hospital" is another great violin and acoustic collaboration that creates a beautiful harmonic sound and features more great lyrics from Shoenfelt. "Live At the House of Sin" is a great album, beautifully arranged, and thought-provoking from a couple of talented musicians with a lot of street cred. Fans of goth, folk, and the likes of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave should definitely pick this one up.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Phil Shoenfelt & Pavel Cingl 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Searching For You” by Spinous (Pop Artist from London, England)

"Searching For You" is the impressive debut from UK multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Spinous. This album is filled with ten catchy and groovy pop songs that draw from rock, funk, and r&b. With the exception of some of the drum and bass work, Spinous composed and performed all of the arrangements on this release, showing his skill both in layering and arranging. Spinous gives a strong vocal performance that sounds somewhere between Sting, Seal, and Prince. The songs are catchy and melodic, with great toe-tapping beats and meaningful, memorable lyrics. Spinous also self-produced "Searching For You," and it sounds great, his full vision fulfilled. "All I Need Is Time" begins with a nice drumbeat and keyboard work, then builds to incorporate a groovy guitar line and moves into great lyrical verse. "All The Things" is an incredibly poppy song with an energetic drumbeat, refined keyboard progressions and solos, more great lyrics, and a catchy chorus. Overall, "Searching For You" is a great debut from Spinous, with great groovy tracks that'll simultaneously make you want to move and sing along. Fans of groovy pop with rock, r&b, and funk influences should check Spinous out.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out SPINOUS's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Fagan & Payne” by Fagan & Payne (Rock Artist from London, England)

"Fagan & Payne" is the self-titled debut featuring a well-crafted collection of songs that are classically upbeat with a touch of broodiness from UK artists Fagan & Payne. Kelly Fagan's voice wraps itself beautifully around Lucho Payne's wonderful and diverse acoustic guitar work. Their relationship leaves little need for trickery; rather, Fagan & Payne are all about great melodies, a naturally distinct sound, and great performances. Although they have their own styles, the two incorporate several genres into their act, including alternative and pop rock, lounge, and jazz, and they do it with ease. This album is well-recorded with an intimate quality that makes you feel as though you could hear a pin drop. Highlights include the opener, "The Story of Me and You," which sets the tone right off the bat, creating an immediate window into the concept, and includes some cool hand claps, a lovely guitar progression, and a crisp vocal. "Dear Dear Me" features a great lounge jazz progression and a warm vocal performance. "Started Thinking (Stuart Boldt Remix)" wraps up the album with a great layering of vocals, thumping beat, and a simple acoustic progression and extreme danceability. If you enjoy acoustic acts with a dark swagger and style, you will enjoy Fagan & Payne.
-William
Check out Fagan and Payne's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"The Exodus is Here" by Alien Alright (Rock artist from London, England)

"The Exodus is Here" is a fast-paced, guitar-driven hard rock album from Alien Alright. Alien Alright is true to the hard rock sound of the '60s and '70s, and his guitar progressions and solos have a certain timelessness to them. His lyrics follow the same format, and when they are not timeless, they are critical of the state of the music world today. "The Exodus is Here" was recorded as a seven-track album because Alien Alright wants music to return to its roots. Alien believes that for an album to be appreciated and loved and for a song to be all it can be, it cannot not be overproduced with the intent for radio play. His vocals also draw from the '60s and '70s through the likes of Robert Plant and Neil Young and create an original raw sound. The album is well-recorded and allows for those guitar solos to burst through the speakers clearly and cleanly. "Make Some Noise" contains a Jim James-style falsetto then moves into some great wailing vocals that creates an overall Zeppelin-esque sound. "Record Store Blues" has an inviting guitar progression as he sings about the overabundance of musicians today and longs for the purer days of musical yore. "The Exodus is Here" is a bold album that makes bold statements about the music industry past and present. Fans of early hard rock, give this album a try.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Alien Alright's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Life" by Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth (Classical Artist from London, England)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Life"

"Life" by Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth features some wonderful violin work courtesy of Dr. Srikanth. The CD is the complete package of excellent musicianship, production, and songwriting. Richard's warm, soothing vocals are a highlight of the CD, and have a pleasant yet raspy tone that reminds us of Edwin McCain and Del Amitri. The songwriting shines with highly refined lyrics and memorable melodies. The acoustic guitar on the CD, such as on "Down in this Town" and "1931" has a very beautiful tone that allows Richard's skillful guitar work to cut through the recording nicely. Moreover, this CD showcases a wide range of musical diversity – from the slow-paced, teary acoustic ballad "Enlighten Me" to the upbeat folk-with-a-hint-of-Celtic-flavor "Thinking of Cristina" and the radio-friendly country-rock anthem "I'll Never Learn." With all of these appealing traits, "Desert Wind" is sure to cause a scene in the folk rock music scene.

-Xavier and the RadioIndy Team
Check out Richard Murray's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Life" by Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth (Classical artist from London)

"Life" by Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth features some wonderful violin work courtesy of Dr. Srikanth. If you like Jazz, anything fused with Jazz and beautiful violin, you will like this album.
-William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Fusion Dreams Jyotsna Srikanth's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Darkness Seeks Light EP” by Mervin Scott (Rock Artist from London, England)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Mervin Scott with a Grindie award for their CD "Darkness Seeks Light EP"!

"Darkness Seeks Light EP" by Mervin Scott is a delightfully edgy collection of electronica-infused modern rock!

"Aim Records Vol 2" by Aim Records (Pop artist from London, England (UK))

Aim Record's latest collection, "Aim Records Vol 2", delivers great electronica tunes made for the dance floor. The beats and bass grooves throughout the CD drive a strong dance beat. The vocals nicely complement this rythm section. Starting this dance party off is the techno-flavored "Over With You – Original 2step Mix." This song is one of this collection's stand-out tracks. It mixes emotion-filled and highly melodic vocals with a very contagious groove, and makes a beautiful transition from a somber piano-driven sound to a lively beat-driven party song. "Going Crazy – Scott Tonic Remix" is another outstanding mix, emanating loads of energy from the very start. Remix after remix, the producers on this collection offer something tasteful, new, and constructed for dancing the night away.
-Xavier and the RadioIndy Team
Check out Aim Records's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Darkness Seeks Light EP" by Mervin Scott (Modern Rock artist from London)

"Darkness Seeks Light EP" by Mervin Scott is a delightfully edgy collection of electronica-infused modern rock!
